When you have scheduled your session there are a few things you can do to prepare for your Bark Gallery portrait experience . The main thing to keep in mind, is that this is a fun time and a great memory of the love you have for your pets.
Pets react to your energy, if you are excited, they will be excited, etc. The main thing is to keep calm as it's the best state for relaxed happy pets. I have photographed hundreds of dogs, cats, and other animals. Dogs being the primary focus and being a dog lover myself, I have a few "tricks" up my sleeve to assist with capturing a special moment in time.
Grooming- This is a wonderful idea to do 3-5 days before your session. Use the same groomer you always have used in the past. If your pet needs a little grooming attention the day of that's fine but it's best to have any styles done prior to the shoot so it has a few days to grow out. This obviously applies to dogs who regularly get groomed.
Food- It's best for your dog to be a bit hungry for the shoot. It helps the pet pay a bit more attention to the treats if we use them. I typically do not bring treats to a session, so please make sure you have some of your pets favorite treats!
Leashes- If we are going to be outdoors, please be prepared and have a leash. If your pet is able to be controlled off leash you can remove it once we get to the location. However if you have doubts, leashes are easily removed from the final photograph at no charge.
If you are going to join in the session and have your photograph taken with your best friend, it's best to make sure that the attire you chose complements the color of your pet. The best clothing choices are simple colors without logos, or writing on them.
Any concerns or questions before your session, please let me know and we can address them before the session.
