So maybe your dog isn't trained or can't be trusted off the leash outdoors. Generally speaking, the majority of dogs need to be on a leash. This is for the safety of your dog. It keeps them close to you, and not to mention, it keeps them from getting into trouble.
There is 2 basic types of leashes on the market today. I feel that for most dogs a standard leash with a clip and a handle is all you need. This is the simplest leash and works for 90% of dogs. The leash varies in material and length but is usually around 6ft long. Which is enough to allow free roaming but short enough for control. The second is a retractable leash. This is something that is made out of string and has a locking button and handle. This leash can cause bodily harm to the owner. The string is often not stable enough to pull a dog away from harm. I do not recommend this leash for everyday dog walking.
All Bark Gallery Session Products have the leashes removed. The leash may be needed for the safety of the dog during the session but can easily be removed in the final photograph. I include leash removal free of charge with the purchase of Bark Gallery products.
Some dogs wear harnesses for walks and going out, so the dog harness is often a bit trickier to get out of the final photograph because it can cover the dogs whole chest. When preparing for your Bark Gallery session, bringing a traditional leash is the best option. Leave the harness at home for the session. If you need a different option I often have slip leads with me that can be used instead of a harness. While harnesses are great for some smaller dogs that may pull often for photography it's better to have it off.
When I first meet clients at their Bark Gallery session, I show them some guidelines for holding the leash in a way that I can remove it easily. This doesn't always work as the dog often gets excited, but for the majority of photos, the removal is quite simple and not noticed.
